The post header is not terribly original but it is concise and to the
point. After neglecting (again) this blog for a long, long time due
to lack of time, inspiration and any number of other reasons
(excuses) I have decided to try again.
point. After neglecting (again) this blog for a long, long time due
to lack of time, inspiration and any number of other reasons
(excuses) I have decided to try again.
And the main reason why I have decided to try again is because I have
a lot more time on my hands these days. And why is that you may ask?
Well, almost two weeks ago I was packaged off from my job. After
working for the same banking institution for 38 years and 5 months I
was done.
Unexpected? Yes and no. It came as a surprise when it happened but
I have been bracing for it for years and more so in the past five months
or so. Upsetting? Only in the sense that I will miss some of the
people that I have worked with for many, many years. Lots of good
souls working there and I have been privileged to work with and along
side of them for lo these many years. Unhappy? Me? Hell no!!!!!
I am one of those people who is happiest in my home. I have a lot
of hobbies and interests that I can fill my days with but many of
which have been neglected for lack of time, and because I was so
drained and miserable during the last years of my working life.
To wake up in the morning now is a joy. I look forward to each
and every day. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night
now and instead of thinking bleakly: Groan! Gotta get up in three
hours ... I am waking up thinking: Darn! It's not time to get up yet!!!
Note: But I am mostly sleeping right through the night instead of
waking up and stewing about work, with dread roiling around in
my stomach. It's nice.
So what do I plan to do with this space? Journal about things that
make me happy. Talk about books, crafts and my love of walking
and taking pictures and exploring the city (Toronto) and towns,
parks and neighbourhoods that are more or less readily available
to me. I don't drive. I walk. A lot!
Some of my doodling sketches
I plan to pick up my cross stitching again. I plan to scrapbook
and to keep up a hand written journal. I plan to read and savour
my books. I plan to have tea with friends and neighbours. I
will watch the tons of DVD's that I've collected over the years
but never made time to watch (that'll be a winter activity I think)
and I'll sit on my deck and enjoy the peace and quiet .... and the
squabbling squirrels.
I'm so excited! So let's get started!
I take lots of pictures of flowers.
Love the colours and they don't
move around too much.

Welcome back, Judy. It's so nice to see you posting again. I'm not on FB so I'm not up to date on you. But I hope that you will post often on your blog again.
I am so very, very glad to see you are back. I'm sorry to hear that you were packaged out of your job, but I understand what you are saying about the anxiety roiling in your stomach. I will be honored to savor every upcoming post! Welcome back!
